Screen overlay detected

Screen overlay detected

As you are here you are facing the problem of ‘Screen Overlay detected’ on your android mobile phone. While giving permissions like storage or Camera etc. to some applications the popup displayed as “Screen Overlay Detected”. And as per this message popup, you are redirected to the Setting -> Apps. But in settings, it is not simple to find out the reason for this popup. This screen overlay will also not allow some apps to open/ run.

Android has introduced this feature in Marshmallow and Naught which allows some applications to draw over the other apps. FB messenger head is one of the examples for this. Actually, this feature was introduced as a security feature which can be useful for not allowing some harmful apps from taking advantage of the default Android settings.

How to solve this?

  1.       Go to Settings.
  2.       Click on Magnifier icon for search.
  3.       Search Draw over the apps.
  4.       Now on this screen, you can see the apps having permission to draw over the apps.
  5.       Click on each app and uncheck the Permit drawing over the apps.
  6.       Now clear the app that was facing this problem and relaunch again, you will not see ‘Screen Overlay detected’ message.

Sometimes even after unchecking ‘Permit drawing over the apps’ you might see this problem again so in such case you might need to uninstall some applications like ‘ES File Explorer’ as this was the app was causing ‘Screen overlay detected’ in my mobile. Once I uninstalled this application, everything is working fine.
